As the South Australian community continues the mop up after the severe storms last week, GME has committed to donating $10,000 in support of the tireless efforts of both the SA State Emergency Services and the SA Country Fire Service.
GME staff and customers experienced firsthand the damage caused by destructive winds, torrential rain and a statewide power outage just prior to the Adelaide launch of XRS Connect on Thursday night.
Group Marketing Manager Gavin Kadwell who was at the event said; “After the SA Premier and Police Commissioner announced workers should leave work early, we were very concerned for the safety of those still planning on attending the event. It was only fortunate that the winds died down and the rain slowed enough for some of the dealers to still attend although for many, the trip into the city was simply not possible.”
The storms were predicted to be the worst in 50 years and resulted in significant disruption to many areas of the state.
