GME MT410G Assists in the Rescue of Mountain Biker

A GME MT410G Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) was used in the rescue of a Mountain Biker after they were involved in an incident in the Mundaring State Forrest on the 27th of September, 2020.

Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Australia reported the detection of an emergency beacon in the vicinity of Mundaring Weir Road in the Mundaring State Forrest, WA. JRCC Australia tasked WA Police and St Johns Ambulance to coordinate in the rescue.

St Johns Ambulance took over after they advised knowledge of an incident involving a mountain biker in the same vicinity and were confident of the incident’s location. Upon arriving at the scene, ambulance staff discovered the injured cyclist and provided a medical assessment before transporting them to the local hospital for further treatment.

This serves to remind us how important it is to carry PLBs and EPIRBs and ensure that their registration details are up to date before heading into the bush.
